Hello – I’m Leah, and I do way more than just public relations and communications.

I love storytelling, archives, and history – but there’s nothing I love more than community.

I’ve devoted ten years to nonprofits, schools, theatres, and libraries as a communications professional.

I have coordinated articles, supported journalists, unearthed archives, thrown parties, and fostered partnerships. I work hard and care deeply about the people I represent – because excellence is the goal.

Currently, I serve as the Senior Public Relations Manager for The New York Public Library, where I specialize in PR for the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and East Manhattan Libraries.

Okay – Let’s Get to Work!

For the past year, I have led public relations for the 100th anniversary of the Schomburg Center. My work has manifested in not just press coverage, but activations, booklists, celebrity visits, viral social media moments, and special library cards in the hands of thousands of New Yorkers.

What Have I Been Working On?

Glad you asked! As the lead publicist for the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, I daily manage filming requests, news features, and PR campaigns for the Center and represent the Center in the New York Public Library Communications team. Here are a few of my favorite features that I coordinated!

What Do I Do For Fun?

I am a traditional painter who loves bright celebrations of the beauty of Black womanhood, my Caribbean heritage and my love for New York as a life-long New Yorker. In that order.

I also create social and educational spaces for women of color through my writer’s collective Iambic. Through this work, I coordinate spaces for underrepresented voices and encourage networking between women and creators of color.

What Do I Specialize In?

I graduated from Hunter College as a Salutatorian and a Carnegie Mellon Fellow, I have worked in communications and social media at my alma mater and Harlem Children’s Zone. Previously, I was the very first intern at Lincoln Center Theater.
